Every day, we’re reminded that some products we use regularly are made here in the US and some aren’t. Check the tag of the shirt you’re wearing. It’ll give you a hint about where it was made. Even if it’s an American brand sold by an American firm, chances are it was stitched together in a country where it could be made more cheaply. Fisher Investments feels "globalization" and its foes have been a hot topic in recent years as more things we use are produced abroad.
Fisher Investments believes many fear buying foreign-made products because this could mean shipping US jobs overseas. This has led, at times, to backlashes by the media and even politicians against free trade. From "Made in the USA" labels (and the Federal Trade Commission stipulating how they can be used) to protectionist legislation emanating from Capitol Hill, "Buy American" is a popular refrain from sea to shining sea.
